When vans are designed it is with the intention of carrying a load (which is listed as the payload), so your wheel and tyre choice needs to be capable of doing the same. The wheel and tyre needs to meet or exceed the maximum axle load on the front and rear of the vehicle, which is actually a requirement for your vehicle insurance and UK law.

Whilst safety is of paramount importance, it is also very important to bear in mind that it your wheels and/or tyres aren't correctly load matched to the vehicle then your vehicle insurance will be void. So in the event of an incident and the insurance company wanted to investigate the load capability of your wheels/tyres and find fault - then they will not pay out!
